they make novelty cigars that you don't actually smoke...bubble gum, chocolate, etc. then too, who said you had to actually smoke it? you put it in a gift box, label it with the baby's birthdate (which is when you give out the cigars, by the way) and save it as a memento. (there's a perfect gift idea for you...get a "keepsake box" and fill it with memorable items...when the 'baby' turns 18, or 21 or whatever, you give it to them and use that to tell them about their lives up to that point.
Oh, and the main point of this message: Congratulations to the future new uncle, and especially to the parents.

Congratulations, an in five days, Happy Birthday! Strange, its only 3 days till I turn 20... An its funny, but where as you are gonna be a great age to be a Uncle, I was a Uncle 13 days after I was born! That has always been interesting explaining it to other people...
